A Brief Overview:
This position provides clinical supervision to designated Clinical Therapists and Behavioral Health Associates within the Linden Oaks Outpatient programs assisting in the resolution of operational and patient care concerns under the direction of the department Manager. Supports program development and process improvement with the designated treatment team. Provides staff education related to clinical skill development and in the orientation of new employees. Provides clinical care, crisis stabilization, and case coordination to patients who need continued behavioral health care. In collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, assesses immediate and ongoing needs of the patient, provides acute behavioral interventions and offers recommendations for continued care options. Prepares and updates medical records including plan of care. Determines collateral supports, available resources and patient and family response to recommendations.

What you will do:
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of assigned patient population. This includes knowledge of the physical and psychological needs of the patients as well as the ability to respond appropriately to those needs.
  • Partners with the Manager and Clinical Supervisor to provide oversight for designated Outpatient Clinical Therapists and Behavioral Health Associates. In conjunction with the Manager and Clinical Supervisor, manages personnel files, disseminates information, assists with annual evaluations and provides education, resources and supervision to these staff as required.
  • Provides clinical supervision to designated staff as designated by the Manager and Clinical Supervisor. This may include three letter licensure staff and/or clinical interns. Assists Clinical Supervisor in the evaluation process of students to ensure accurate assessments of skills.
  • Provides training to clinical staff as requested by Manager and Clinical Supervisor in relation to development of clinical skills and designated competencies. Acts as a preceptor orienting new employees. Educates new employees on clinical skills related to development of care plans and clinical documentation.
  • Facilitates treatment team meetings/staffing for the designated treatment team and provides input on the psychosocial, disease management and case management needs of the patient.
  • Audits charts to monitor internal compliance practices and reports deficiencies to the Manager and Clinical Supervisor and assists in the development of corrective action plans.
  • Coordinates responses to psychiatric emergency codes utilizing training in management of aggressive behavior.
  • Performs the duties of a Clinical Therapist as needed.
  • Documents therapy performed, interventions, patient's clinical status, progress, family and school involvement and discharge planning process in the patient electronic medical record.
  • Demonstrates an understanding, and adheres to all procedures and legislation, which apply to patients cared for in a Mental Health and Substance Abuse treatment facility.
  • Develops professional relationships and communication systems with referral sources including schools and outside agencies.
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of community resources to provide patient support and supplement treatment gains.
  • Develops and delivers community education programs to enhance community awareness of mental health issues and resources available to address these issues, supports organization's strategic marketing effort. May serve as a spokesperson before professional or community groups.
  • Directs or supports program development and process improvement within the designated treatment team. Assists in the development and maintenance of QI programs for the designated treatment team. Gathers data, interprets trends and develops appropriate action plans in relation to the LOH treatment team including specific scorecards/patient satisfaction surveys/outcome measures and reports to the Manager and Clinical Supervisor.
  • Participates in activities that enhance professional growth and development.
  • Demonstrates conduct in keeping with LOH ethical standards outlined in the EE Health Standards of Conduct policy manual. Demonstrates a strong working knowledge and assures compliance with all regulatory bodies, such as JCAHO, MCH and the Confidentiality Act.
  • Complies with facility safety, infection control and security program.
What you will need:
  • Masters Degree Required
  • 3 Years of experience in a behavioral health
  • Knowledge of developmental psychology, disease pathology and clinical needs of assigned population
  • Ability to maintain information which is highly confidential
  • Ability to clearly summarize pertinent clinical information via written correspondence and medical records documentation
  • Must be able to demonstrate self-control in volatile or hostile situations
  • Must be able to set therapeutic limits and maintain therapeutic distance with clients; maintains therapeutic boundaries with patients during treatment and following discharge
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Required Or
  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Required And
  • CPI Certification - Crisis Prevention Institue (CPI) Required
