The Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School (O-School) is a private, non-public school that provides educational and therapeutic services to students, grades K-12. Reports to: Clinical Director

The Diagnostic + Evaluation Center (DEC) at the Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School serves children and adolescents, ages 5 to 21, by providing psychoeducational, neuropsychological, and developmental evaluations and diagnosis. This is a rapidly growing center on the south side of Chicago serving families and schools (public and private) from the broad Chicagoland area. The DEC is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team of practitioners who have significant experience evaluating complex clients. The DEC is housed in a beautiful townhouse in the Woodlawn neighborhood of Chicago. The center sees a diverse set of clients from a variety of backgrounds and locations. We pride ourselves on prioritizing follow-up care which includes developing relationships with other providers in the area, including psychiatry, and participating in school meetings in a collaborative role.

Summary and Essential Functions:

Seeking a licensed clinical psychologist with specialization in assessment of children and adolescents for our rapidly growing evaluation center. This practitioner must have broad experience conducting comprehensive neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations for ages 5 to 21. Must provide skilled support to families including discussing diagnostic conclusions, intervention recommendations, and resources. Experience attending school meetings and understanding school services is desired. This is a flexible, part-time position with opportunity for growth. Hourly as needed to start. Once it becomes 20 hours per week or more on a regular basis, it is a benefits-eligible position.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in clinical or school psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an APA-accredited program
  • APA-accredited internship is ideal
  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Illinois
  • Post-graduate assessment experience working with children and adolescents
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to empathize with clients and their families
  • Strong writing skills are essential
