TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-time (19 hours/week). On-site at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, CT. Subject to budget availability and the needs of the University, this position can be renewed each year.POSITION SUMMARY:Reporting to the Director of University Relations, the Web Design Assistant will work closely with the Website Manager and Office of University Relations team to advance the University's web-related goals. The Web Design Assistant will design, edit, maintain, and ensure the accessibility of web pages for the University website. The Web Design Assistant will also work directly with faculty and staff to provide technical assistance in maintaining various web pages, including: academic department pages; administrative office pages; and Student Activity club and intramural pages.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:* Assists in developing and maintaining University web pages through the University's Cascade content management system.* Designs, edits, and maintains University web pages in alignment with the University's graphic/brand standards and to ensure consistency across Eastern's website.* Provides technical assistance and content advice to academic and administrative departments for website development/management.* Works closely with faculty and staff to ensure the accessibility of Eastern web pages in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and national accessibility standards.* Keeps up-to-date with current web technology and trends, such as dynamic web pages, mobile applications, and social media. Implements approved upgrades to ensure the Eastern website is competitive with technical and design standards of other college and university websites.* Assists in the integration of department-level and club-level social media content onto University web pages through a third-party feed. Retains and updates records of University-based social media accounts for social media directory.* Using SEO data, Google Analytics and other metrics, produces timely analytical reports on website activity and effectiveness.* Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:* Associate's degree in computer science, web design, visual art/graphic design, communication, or related field required.* Two years of related web development/design work experience* Familiarity with industry-standard web design software and coding languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).* Ability to design on all devices (i.e. desktop, tablet, mobile).* Familiarity with web-based forms, RSS feeds, and social* Familiarity with ADA* Familiarity with SEO and Google Analytics to produce reports and actionable web insights.* Ability to work in fast-paced academic environment and manage multiple priorities.* Ability to work independently.* Excellent organizational, visual, and interpersonal skills.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:* Bachelor's degree in computer science, web design, visual art/graphic design, communication, or related field.* Demonstrated software/ technical skills in Adobe Suite to assist in editing and posting photos to University web pages (Photoshop, Illustrator).* Familiarity with Cascade content management system.* Google Analytics certification.* Demonstrated experience in accessibility remediation software (i.e. DubBot).* Familiarity with web design software and coding languages (ASP, PHP, SQL, Java Velocity code).TO APPLYTo apply please submit a letter of interest, current resume, up to three examples of web-based projects you have worked on, and the names of three references to: Ms. Ashley Orcutt (...@easternct.edu).
