PAYROLL SPECIALIST

Our client in Washington, DC is seeking a Payroll Specialist to assist with the daily operations of their Payroll Department. This is position will process both domestic and international payroll as well as union pay rules per collective bargaining agreements. This position is in office and provides an excellent work/life balance, competitive compensation, great benefits and opportunity to pursue further education!

Qualifications:

  • 4+plus years payroll experience; international and union payroll experience is a plus!
  • Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now and Business Central
  • Basic knowledge of HR as it relates to payroll
  • Understanding of garnishment and withholding compliance
  • Great communication skills and attention to detail
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Good understanding of the general ledger and related payroll entries and reconciliations

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with daily operations of payroll department
  • Assist with handling payroll tax and filing of payroll related federal, state and local tax
  • Assist with ensuring HR and payroll compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Assist with year end audits
  • Identify areas for improvement and processes
  • Assist with journal entries associated with payroll activity
  • Assist with payroll account reconciliations
  • Assist with record retention and organization of historical records
