Social Worker/Counselor (Center for Eating Disorders, Full-Time, Day Shift, Towson)

The Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt is one of the nation's leading programs for the treatment of children, teens, adults, and older adults with eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, compulsive overeating, and other specified eating disorders.

As a Social Worker you will:

  • Perform a full range of clinical social work services in support of the patient's primary therapist/treatment team for patients in the Inpatient Program (IP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).
  • Interview patients and families to assess psychosocial problems, develop treatment plans, and monitor and evaluate patient progress.
  • Conduct primary family therapy but may also provide group therapy sessions for patients and their families in order to assist in resolving personal and environmental problems that prevent them from achieving their highest level of psychosocial functioning.
  • Develop and assist in the implementation of discharge and aftercare plans.


Requires: Master's degree in social work and a MD state LMSW, LCSW-C, LGPC, or LCPC license. Experience in family therapy and training in either CBT or DBT strongly preferred.

*If position is filled by an LMSW, individual will be required to receive 144 hours of supervision provided by a board-approved SPHS LCSW-C supervisor and is expected to apply and sit for the LCSW-C license within 2 to 3 years of acceptance of LMSW role. Will be required to participate in a minimum of 3 hours of face-to-face supervision per month with the LCSW-C supervisor. Will be responsible for maintaining documentation, for at least 5 years, of supervisory sessions including dates, duration, and focus of supervision, to be available for verification to the Board.
