Senior Development Manager

The Senior Development Manager provides support for Working America and the Working America Education Fund s fundraising development and relationship management work. The position is responsible for research, writing, data support, administration, outreach, and other programmatic activity.
Reports to: Executive Director
Duties of Senior Development Manager:
- Assist with the creation and implementation of an annual development plan;
- Assist the Executive Director with major donor and stakeholder contacts to include preparation of materials and background for meetings and calls;
- Assist in managing Working America s and the Working America Education Fund s current portfolio of donor and stakeholder relationships to include solicitations, reports, tracking and of funds, and gift acknowledgements;
- Assist with donor cultivation and engagement to include identifying, researching and developing a robust portfolio of donors for individual programs and general support; support the expansion of Working America s and the Working America Education Fund s profile with the donor community; develop annual goals and giving outcomes;
- Manage the development of foundation grant applications and reports; manage the organization s grant inquiry, grant writing, reporting and tracking activities.
- Manage data collection, entry, and evaluation, including maintenance of Working America donor database and donor records.
- Assist in developing internal and external materials;
- Manage event planning and execution
- Develop, conceptualize and manage occasional fundraising and visibility-raising events, including public briefing events, webinars, receptions, house parties, fundraising dinners, etc.;
- Create and manage event host committees;
- Develop and oversee event time lines;
- Oversee event logistics;
- Direct outreach to event sponsors and event attendees.
- Prepare Board communications, materials, reports and presentations; attend local Board meetings, record, distribute, and maintain Board minutes, and manage governance files;
- Manage board governance logistics and communications with the Working America Education Fund Board of Directors; Manage relationships and serve as liaison with Board members and assistants;
- Manage election compliance reporting.
- Monitor and research trends for new publication ideas to inform Development program and strategy.
- Cross functional support of other departments and programs as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications of Senior Development Manager : - 3-5 years related work experience
- Familiarity with labor movement required with labor movement experience preferred; Commitment to labor issues
- Superior written and oral communications skills; strong research and analytic skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient with computers, graphics and spreadsheets
- Experience using political / fundraising software (e.g. Salesforce, NGP VAN) preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure, juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently or as a team member as appropriate
- Ability to use good judgment, take initiative, and make recommendations in resolving problems
- Available for periodic travel
- Ability to work long and irregular hours as necessary
Location Position - Full-time
- FLSA Classification: Exempt
Starting salary is $89,000. Includes medical insurance and 401(k) with employer contribution.
