Description

The primary purpose of this position is to provide preventive maintenance, general repair and/or assist in new construction and installation of all systems and structures of Glenville State University's physical plant. Primary emphasis will be in the areas of plumbing, pipefitting, and minor electrical wiring and HVAC operations.
Examples of Duties

Ability to read and follow detailed instructions, wiring schematics and blue prints required; knowledge of and strict adherence to safety procedures and protocols required; must be skilled in the use of common tools and equipment used in various trades including electrical, plumbing, HVAC and construction; basic math and computer skills are a must; must have the initiative to work alone and proceed with assigned tasks. Scheduled shift may vary, and unscheduled callbacks for emergency repairs may be required. At least 10 hours of on-the-job training in computer operation and boiler controls will be provided, in one-half hour increments, in preparation for the three- and six-month probationary evaluation, which will include proficiency in basic computer skills and standard boiler operation.
Typical Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency required; a combination of training and education beyond high school in a technical or vocational school or program, and/or experience of between 2-3 years in trades skills associated with electrical, plumbing, pipefitting and/or HVAC required.

TIAA Total Disability Benefits Plan: Optional employees coverage that provides (1) monthly income and (2) payments of premiums to your TIAA/CREF retirement plan to participating employees who suffer total, long-term disabilities. The cost is adjusted according to individual salary on a yearly basis. Employees become eligible upon completion of the first year of employment.
