Position Overview:
The Call Center Coordinator provides competent, thorough customer service skills through phone interviews, face-to-face evaluations for intake, crisis calls, and community referrals. Conducts assessments and assigns patient to the proper level of care in collaboration with the medical staff. Apprises patients/guardians of rights, verifies and certifies insurance benefits, starts financial counseling, obtains custody documents, registers patients and obtains legal consents. Works closely with the Medical Director on Physician availability and bed control. Plan and monitor all staffing for nursing Services under the direction of a resource nurse. Serve as an "on-call" resource for staffing coverage assistance, coordination and troubleshooting. This may require working as a Unit Clerk/MHS as needed and/or assigned. Provides other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

Education:

An educational background in human services or office procedure technology, as would normally be acquired through an Associates degree is required. Bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences preferred.

Experience:

Demonstrated experience with intake triage, data entry, medical insurance, managed care, or direct experience working with psychiatric patients. Experience with on-line computer system.

Knowledge:

Must have working knowledge of routine office procedures. Knowledge of insurance benefits and reimbursements, medical terminology or community resources. Knowledgeable in psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment and psychopathology preferred.

Specials Skills/ Equipment:

Must be detail oriented and have excellent written and verbal skills. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required. Basic computer skills required, i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, and data base applications.

Physical Requirements:

Must meet the basic health requirements of Kahi Mohala's physical examination including TB skin test or chest x-ray. Short periods of sitting required. Must be able to bend, lift, stoop and retrieve forms from overhead. Must be able to mobilize between buildings. Must be able to hear through a headset phone device. Must obtain and maintain certification in Cardio pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention).
