Environmental Manager

  • Qualifications (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities):
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil or Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science is required.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years environmental experience with air and water regulations, including NSPS, PSD/NSR, NESHAP, and Title V in a manufacturing environment to be considered.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills to manage and execute large scale environmental projects is required.
  • Experience in cement manufacturing or similar source industry required.
  • Supervisory or management experience is preferred.


The Environmental Manager can work out of any GCC location in the United States.

What you will do:

Develops and implements strategies, projects, and programs to ensure compliance with applicable state, federal, and local environmental requirements, and supports GCC sustainability goals. Manages a team of environmental engineers in GCC's US Division regional areas and is responsible for overall compliance and environmental programs in those locations.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Oversees Environmental projects and ensures compliance activities are adhered to and managed in responsible region operations.
  • Plan and organize environmental support of operations, engineering, alternate fuels and sustainability projects from conception to completion in all responsible operations.
  • Provide guidance to technical, engineering, leadership, and operations teams on environmental impacts and strategies for major projects.
  • Monitor legislative and rulemaking activities and provide guidance and recommendations for engagement across operations locations.
  • Support preparation and timely submittal of reports, permitting, and other information to regulatory agencies.
  • Mobilize regional environmental teams to identify environmental risks which require priority attention and direct work with operations teams to develop and implement corrective actions.
  • Oversight of environmental program in designated region and management of the environmental engineers assigned to those areas.
  • Provides input related to environmental expenditures for functional or geographic area and controls assigned budget.
  • Supports environmental due diligence and integration of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Engages with external parties, including regulatory, special interest and community stakeholders.
  • Accountable for the oversight of regulatory inspections, ensuring effective engagement between the Environmental team, operations, and external parties.
  • Identifies the need for and develops critical environmental training for the workforce.
  • Some travel is required on a regular basis both domestically and internationally, 25-40% of time.
