Lead Machinist


Job Details

Role Summary Lead Machinist will work in a prototype, development, and production support machine shop responsible for making one-off, precision details. Primarily will be responsible for programming, operating, and troubleshooting multi-axis NC and manual milling and turning equipment. This includes developing work holding methodology, selecting tooling and the appropriate machine for the job, and creating setup sheets for the machinists. Requirements: General: HS Diploma/GED Equivalent. Technical degree, vocational training, or a minimum of (15) years Industry and (10) years of relevant experience. Work independently using drawings, process instructions, test plans or other written specifications to perform job duties. Under direction of Team leaders, assist with executing/ communicating all technical, schedule, cost, quality, and safety requirements. Provide technical expertise to internal and external customers. Lead and train other machinists in performing higher complexity job assignments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience using productivity tools; word, excel, PowerPoint. Machine Shop Specific: Develop NC programs based on Engineering definition (CAD model, hand sketch, general description of the problem). Select appropriate cutters, speeds, feeds, depth of cut parameters. Load program, machine part & setup and verify accuracy of work when complete. Must be able to operate all equipment in the Lab Machine Shop. Experience machining a variety of materials plastics/ composites/ aluminum/ carbon steel/ stainless steel/ titanium/ Inconel.
