The Miami Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Certified Nurse Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, Medical Administration Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Plumbing, Painting, Security and Protective Services, HVAC, Landscaping, Electrical, and Building Construction Technology.

As a Residential Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in creating a home away from home, fostering personal growth, and empowering our students to overcome challenges on their journey to success.
Responsibilities:
Student Support and Mentorship:
- Provide individualized guidance, mentorship, and emotional support to students residing in the residential facilities.
- Foster a trusting and supportive relationship to empower students in overcoming personal challenges.
Crisis Intervention and Emotional Wellness:
- Respond promptly and empathetically to students facing crises, utilizing effective intervention strategies.
- Create a safe space for open communication, promoting emotional well-being within the residential community.
Community Building:
- Organize and facilitate community-building activities, group discussions, and workshops to strengthen the sense of community.
- Encourage a culture of mutual respect, understanding, and inclusivity among residents.
Life Skills Development:
- Collaborate with students to develop and implement life skills programs that prepare them for independent living.
- Provide guidance on practical aspects of daily life, such as budgeting, time management, and self-care.
Enforcement of Policies and Safety:
- Enforce residential policies and procedures to maintain a secure and conducive living environment.
- Conduct regular safety checks and inspections, ensuring the well-being of all residents.

Qualifications
- Bachelor s Degree (including 15 semester hours of social service-related instruction) and one-year experience in counseling or related field.
- A minimum of one-year Job Corps or related program experience preferred.
- Must possess a valid Driver s License and meet company insurability requirements.
Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and/or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.
