Job Details

The Food Service Assistant (FSA) is to serve diets as ordered to each resident according to a pre-planned schedule. This position is responsible for preparation of some menu items and for preparing the menu for serving. This encompasses maintaining safe temperatures of food items; plating meals following specifically ordered diets; following safe food handling policies/procedures; assisting trainer staff in dining rooms as needed; providing snacks and medically ordered nourishments for residents; completing proper food storage and labeling; maintaining clean and safe kitchen environment; ordering and replenishing stock items for the main kitchen; providing appropriate interactions with residents. The FSA is responsible for washing and storage of dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and appliances in the kitchen.

This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

As of June 1, 2023, the new salary range will be $26,069.00 - $45,622.00.

Salary Grade NC01: Recruitment Range $31,200.00 - $45,622.00

Management Preferences:


* Education and/or experience in food service with focus on medical diets that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade.

* The ability to use various computer programs such as e-mail, Microsoft Word, and Excel as well as general office equipment.


Physical Requirements:

Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering (picking, pinching, typing), grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, ability to exert up to 50 lbs of occasional force and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects. Visual Acuity Requirements: Visual acuity to determine acuity accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of assigned work.
