JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Utility

Department: Store / Warehouse

FLSA: Non-Exempt

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

In the Utility position you must be able to apply knowledge of shop procedures, machine tool setup and operating techniques, machining methods, repair of machine tools, disassembling, inspections, testing, and re-assembling. The incumbent must be customer service oriented, self-motivated, and have the capability to independently organize and manage the functions listed below.

Supervision:

Incumbent reports directly to the location manager. This position does not supervise other employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting customers on a continuous basis;
  • May be responsible for all boring work for specified locations;
  • Responsible for adhering to all procedures/preventative maintenance/ building safety in accordance with Company Operations Manual, Employee Handbook, Driver Handbook, and Safety Manual;
  • Assists in Special Projects as requested;
  • Must report to work as scheduled in a continuous timely manner.


TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Incumbents will have extensive knowledge and the ability to perform general labor duties.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred;
  • A satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report must be obtained by the applicant and submitted for approval prior to the hiring date;


Requirements of Work:
  • Considerable knowledge of automotive parts/repair business;
  • Ability to operate and maintain shop equipment in a safe and productive manner;
  • Technical & mechanical aptitude needed to perform all daily operations of the department;
  • Ability and initiative to use resourcefulness and tact in meeting new problems;
  • Ability to handle discontented customers in a positive manner;
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in an ever-changing environment;
  • Ability to work productively & professionally with others in a team environment;
  • Able to communicate in English clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing;
  • Follow all company rules including safe drivingpolicies and procedures and report any and all accidents/injuries immediately to management.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
  • Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds unassisted or greater than 50 pounds with assistance;
  • Occasionally sit, walk, stand, reach, lift, carry, bend, kneel, push, pull, crouch, squat, bend, twist, and stoop;
  • Also required to climb, balance, crawl, talk, speak, and hear;
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus;
  • May be occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, various degrees of cold and heat, risk of electrical shock, items of bulky or varying weight, risk of explosion, and/or vibration. Noise level may be moderate to heavy;
  • Must have considerable mobility.
