About the Role

We're excited to be hiring a Senior Manager, Global Recruiting Operations and Programs at Cockroach Labs. We are seeking an experienced manager to lead our global recruiting operations team and programs and to drive strategic initiatives to optimize our recruitment processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in recruiting operations, program management, and recruiting strategy, along with exceptional leadership and communication skills. This role offers the opportunity to shape and enhance our global recruiting operations to support the company's growth and recruiting initiatives and goals. To be eligible for this role, you must be based in NYC and will be expected to go into our Flatiron office on Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays.
You Will

Recruiting Operations Management:

  • Manage all recruiting operations, including recruiting coordination team oversight, process design, implementation, and optimization for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain recruiting metrics and analytics to track performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Oversee and optimize recruiting technology to improve user experience. Provide training and ongoing support to recruiters, hiring managers, and other users for efficient tool utilization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, Recruiting, and Business Partners, to align recruiting operations with organizational goals and priorities.
Program Development and Implementation:
  • Lead the development and implementation of innovative recruiting programs and initiatives to attract, engage, and retain top talent.
  • Design and execute strategic recruiting projects, such as employer branding initiatives and employee referral programs.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to identify talent gaps and develop targeted recruitment strategies to address business needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance the effectiveness of recruiting programs and ensure alignment with best practices and industry trends.
Team Leadership, Enablement and Development:
  • Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to the recruiting operations and programs team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
  • Set clear goals and performance expectations for team members, and provide ongoing feedback and support to help them achieve their objectives.
  • Promote professional development and growth opportunities for team members through coaching, enablement, and skill-building initiatives.
The Expectations

In your initial 30 days, your focus will be on familiarizing yourself with our current processes, programs, and systems. You'll have the opportunity to meet with colleagues across the company, establishing relationships that will deepen your understanding of Cockroach Labs. Connecting with fellow Roachers during this period is crucial for gaining insight into our working culture and values. Your responsibilities will include reviewing existing recruiting operations documentation, tools, and systems. Additionally, you'll actively seek feedback from team members, stakeholders, and hiring managers to identify areas for improvement and opportunities for enhancement.

In your initial 60 days, your focus will be on crafting a strategic roadmap to optimize our recruiting operations and programs. Drawing from assessment findings and stakeholder feedback, you'll define clear objectives, goals, and KPIs for our recruiting efforts. Additionally, you'll identify and prioritize key initiatives and projects aimed at driving process improvements and elevating the candidate experience. You'll then transition into implementing strategic initiatives and programs designed to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of our recruiting processes. Concurrently, you'll provide training and resources to equip team members with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their roles.

At the 3-month mark, you will have seamlessly integrated into the team and will begin actively monitoring the performance of our recruiting operations against established KPIs and metrics. This involves evaluating the effectiveness of implemented initiatives and programs and making necessary adjustments and refinements to optimize our recruiting processes and achieve our desired outcomes.

Continuing to engage with key stakeholders will be a priority, as you gather feedback and insights on recruiting operations to ensure alignment with company objectives. Building and maintaining strong relationships with HR, Recruiting, and Business Partners will be essential for fostering collaboration and synergy.

You'll also actively seek input from hiring managers and candidates to drive ongoing improvements in the candidate experience. Additionally, you'll embark on the development of a long-term vision and strategy for our recruiting operations and programs, identifying opportunities for innovation and growth in our global recruiting function.
You Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in recruiting operations, recruiting, or related fields, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of success in designing and implementing recruiting programs and initiatives that drive results.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in recruiting metrics, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality results on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to inspire and motivate team members, foster collaboration, and drive performance.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working in a fast-moving, high-growth organization with a preference for those in the technology industry
  • Must be hands-on with a scrappy mentality coupled with project management fundamentals, adaptable to various tools and methodologies (whether you have SaaS tools in-play or not)
  • In-depth experience with Greenhouse, and Google Business Suite (e.g., Google Sheets), including the ability to effectively and efficiently handle large amounts of data and translate that into digestible information

Location

This role will be based in our NYC Headquarters and may require occasional travel as needed.

The annual anticipated base salary range for U.S. candidates for this role is USD $170,000 to $215,000 plus commission if a sales role. We set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Actual salaries may vary and fall outside of this range depending on factors such as a candidate's qualifications, geographic location, skills, experience, and competencies. In addition, we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. Salary is one component of the Cockroach Labs' total rewards package, which includes stock options, health insurance, life and disability insurance, funds towards professional development resources, flexible PTO, paid holidays, and parental leave, to name a few! Salaries for candidates outside the U.S. will vary based on local compensation structures.
