Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  • Visit competition in their area of responsibility and report findings to Field Merchandiser and Director.
  • Understanding of how to drive profitable sales, reading reports and interpreting data.
  • Utilizing the LMS training modules to develop Perishable Department managers and Leaders.
  • Strong communication skills; communicating to Field Merchandiser, Director and DMS on a regular basis.
  • Ownership of area resets and remodels as guided by the Field Merchandiser.
  • Evaluate the implementation and execution of merchandising plans, including the merchandising of new and seasonal items, sale items, promotional tie-ins, displays and signage in order to meet or exceed the sales and profit objectives of the region.
  • Assist in resolution of action plan issues and stores needing assistance with plan-o-gram maintenance as directed by Field Merchandiser.
  • Evaluate and report to management the in-stock condition, quality and freshness of products in stores within the assigned region.
  • Inspect sales floor, backroom, prep areas and key customer access areas in the department for cleanliness to ensure proper housekeeping, sanitation, and customer satisfaction levels.
  • Enforce all federal and state regulations as well as Company policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to and enforce all physical safety and food safety regulations; promote goodwill with respect to government agencies and officials.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on backroom cooler inventory levels, safety issues and overall conditions to reduce out-of-code and shrink.
  • Evaluate associate appearance and verify dress code policy is enforced to ensure proper image is being presented to our customers. Coordinate and execute price checks in competitor markets; forward price check results to the Perishable Director weekly or as requested.
  • Train and coach department managers, trainees and others in the completion of monthly perishable department inventories.
  • Assist District Manager, HR Manager and Store Managers in the selection and development of Perishable Department Managers, trainees and bench strength candidates within the assigned department.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not directly supervise associates.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Business preferred, plus a minimum of three (3) years' experience in retail operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Assistant Store Manager or Management Experience required.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts, such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
