Ulliman Schutte Construction, a leading water infrastructure construction company, is actively seeking a seasoned Accounting Manager to join our dynamic finance team. Position Summary:
The Accounting Manager will be a pivotal leader within the Accounting Department, responsible for overseeing daily financial operations, ensuring precision in financial reporting, and analyzing financial data to support strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities:
* Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
* Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the company and related entities.
* Review financial and job costs data to identify trends and discrepancies, resolving irregularities.
* Work with management to develop and monitor annual budgets and forecasts.
* Assist with external audits, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
* Provide support for tax return/report preparation and compliance.
* Participate in risk management activities related to insurance and bonds for the company, vendors, and subcontractors.
* Work closely with project teams and other departments to support company business objectives.
* Assist with preparation of construction payment applications and invoices.
* Provide guidance and training to accounting team members.
* Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
* Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
* 6+ years of progressive accounting experience; construction industry experience is a plus; public accounting experience is a plus.
* Active CPA and/or CCIFP designation is a plus.
* Proven ability to supervise and develop staff effectively.
* Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office.
* Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting.
* Familiarity with business taxes (federal and state income, sales/use, payroll).
* Experience with auditing processes and procedures.
* Proficiency in accounting software applications, experience with CMiC is ideal.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and an ability to recognize inconsistencies.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
