Description
The Bart Laboratory at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center has an immediate opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a full-time Laboratory Technician.
The successful candidate will work with a team of scientists to develop improved varieties of cassava and tomato through genome editing. For more information about our research program, please visit our webpage. This is a mid-level position, meaning that the successful applicant is expected to arrive with some relevant experience. However, project-specific training will be provided, and expansion of skills is expected and encouraged. Promotional opportunities are available with additional experience.

Responsibilities:
- Performing basic molecular biology techniques such as isolating plant DNA / RNA / protein, bacterial DNA / plasmids, running gels, performing polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and Real-Time Quantitative Reverse Transcription PCR (qRT-PCR), etc
- Plant tissue culture transformation and line maintenance
- Greenhouse-based plant growth
- Other duties as assigned
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities: - Demonstrated aptitude for organization and multitasking
- Demonstrated capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and interactive research environment
- Demonstrated record keeping and communication skills

QualificationsQualifications:- Associate's degree with 3-5 years of experience; B.A. or B.S. in Biology or related discipline with 1-3 years of experience; or relevant Master's degree.
