Low Voltage Cable Technician Needed (Walnut Creek, CA; East Bay Area)
NetXperts is seeking a low voltage cable technician to join our growing team of professional installers. We are looking for a technician with a minimum of two years experience in the telecommunications and structured cabling field.
This position requires a highly motivated individual, who can arrive each day on time, with the required tools for the task at hand. The key to this position is to have strong communication skills, problem solving skills, and the ability to take direction from supervisors while working as a team. This position will be located in and around Walnut Creek and the East Bay.
Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Installation & termination of low voltage copper network cable (Cat6, Cat6A, Coax, etc.)
Installation & termination of fiber optic cable
Installation of various types of networking equipment (switches, wireless access points, VoIP phones, access control, etc.)
Experience in MDF and IDF construction and buildout
Testing and verification of cabling using industry standard equipment
Ability to read and implement labeling schematics
Familiarity with construction drawing sets and floorplans
Knowledge of industry cable standards and typologies (i.e. Cat5E, Cat6, Cat6E, Riser, Fiber, etc.)
Installation of cable pathways (EMT, Flex, J-hooks, Raceway, Panduit, etc.)
Ability to terminate various types of connections (110/66 punch downs, 568A, 568B and RJ45, fiber connections, etc.)
Final dressing of cable to maintain company QA/QC standards
Experience using Leviton, Ortronics, ICC, Pathway and other networking product lines
Knowledge of power tools and their specific use case (saws, hammer drills, etc..)
Provide concise daily reports to project foreman
Work with other members of the team to ensure brand integrity is being kept
Provide basic hand tools such as:
o 10 in 1 screwdriver
o Cable Snips
o 110/66 punch down tool
o Torpedo Level
o Drywall Saw
o Tape Measure
o Tone and Probe
o Needle Nose Pliers and Side Cutters
o Channel Locks
o Applicable power tools will be assigned by NetX per project
Qualifications:
Minimum 2+ years of experience in structured cabling and installation field.
High school diploma, GED, or higher (Industry certifications are a plus)
OSHA10 or OSHA30 preferred
Valid drivers license with reliable transportation
Flexible schedule (ability to work day shift, night shift, and some weekends, depending on projects and customers)
Able to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining organized
Willing to travel if needed
Ability to pass drug/background check when required
Compensation:
Position is paid prevailing wage base on project location and scope of work classification
