Overview:

POSITION SUMMARY: Assist Goodwill of Greater Washington AbilityOne Associates in the areas of crisis management, skill development and career planning. Develop and implement strategies to assist associates to RISE to their highest level of personal success. This position is responsible and will be held accountable for behaving in accordance with team and organizational RISE values and expectations.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Ensures AbilityOne team member case files have current disability documentation and current Individual Eligibility Evaluation (IEE) to meet AbilityOne compliance standards and other key documents per Division standards.

2. Plans, organizes, and conducts private Associate session(s) on an as needed basis to deliver support services,

3. Performs assessments of the physical, functional, social, and/or psychological needs of AbilityOne team members to determine accommodations for equipment, job adaptations and/or other employment needs.

4. Performs assessments to identify abilities, talents, interests, and personality characteristics in order to develop the team members IEE and Individual Employment Support Plan (IESP). Compiles occupational, educational, and economic information to aid team members in determining and achieving these goals and objectives.

5. In GGW approved electronic database, accurately records case notes that are an objective, current, non-judgmental summary/description of the nature and content of encounters and actions taken as a result of the contact that focus on the team members service/support plans. Case notes will be recorded in the electronic database within 48 hours of the encounter and follow GGW record-keeping standards. Maintains current information (i.e., address, telephone number, etc.) in electronic case file database.

6. Collaborates with Contracts site supervisor/managers to conduct employment retention activities including site assessment, accommodations, on-the-job training plans and provision of training/support around work-related activities for the successful employment of AbilityOne team members. All work-related support activities will be consistent with Contracts standard operating procedures with AbilityOne.

7. Provides team member referrals to supportive services for housing, food, financial, literacy, debt counseling, mental health, domestic violence, child care, etc. and provides coaching on how to access these supportive services.


Other Responsibilities:

1. Offers team members timely and appropriate feedback when conveying information, interpreting assessment results and acknowledging efforts and progress. Provides frequent reinforcement and, as needed, alternative actions or redirection.

2. Demonstrates RISE core values and person-centered coaching to establish positive interpersonal relationships by helping team members feel valued and included in discussions and decisions.

3. Assures individual rights of team members are protected by educating team members and their supervisor(s), as agreed upon by the team member, on job accommodations, assistive technology devices, adaptive work equipment, natural supports, and/or guidance on behavior management techniques.

4. Provides ongoing support until the team member has met his/her goals or no longer needs or desires AbilityOne services.

5. Assists in conducting workshops for team members and managers.

6. Assists in conducting outreach to community-based organizations and social service agencies through service presentations, meetings and attendance at networking events to increase program visibility and to recruit candidates.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.



Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelors degree in rehabilitation counseling, training and development, education, or related field, with one or more years of experience providing career coaching. Five or more years of related experience can substitute the four-year degree.

2. Two or more years of direct related experience in providing life or career coaching to diverse populations.

3. Access to reliable transportation to delivery services in remote locations, attend trainings, and meetings.

4. If applicable, ability to pass a Federal background investigation to gain access to AbilityOne contract sites to provide coaching services.

5. Ability to maintain confidentiality of team member information.

6. Knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA) or ability to obtain KSA in Americans with Disability Act, job accommodations, assistive technology, learning styles, and Universal Design for Learning.

7. Demonstrated skill and ability to apply life and career coaching theories and techniques in the delivery of services to diverse population.

8. Demonstrated skill and ability to establish and maintain a customer focus to ensure that the expectations of stakeholders (e.g., persons served, employers, referring agencies, etc.) are met.

9. Demonstrated skill in active listening.

10. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and thrive in changing conditions.

11. Demonstrated interpersonal sensitivity to include patience, tolerance, enthusiasm, compassion and empathy. Ability to develop rapport with a wide variety of diverse individuals.
