Description:

You (the technician/fabricator) will be responsible for creating composite parts, through every step of the process - from material preparation to assembly and finishing of final components. You will work closely with other shop members, and engineers to rapidly iterate new aircraft designs, while adhering to a rigorous quality standard. Some of this work may involve using CAD and other digital analysis tools along side engineering team members.

Other duties include:

- Hand cutting and kitting materials. Understand processes such as vacuum bagging, core prep, and fiber orientation.

- Able to identify different process materials, prepregs, adhesives and resins.

- Completing lay-ups using measuring instruments and prepared technical drawings.

- Understanding layup mold handling, preparation, and maintenance. Utilizing CNC machines, 3D printing, and hand tools to manufacture molds and plugs.

- Bonding a variety of materials (composite, metal, or laminate) assemblies, parts, skins, components, or structures into semi-finished or finished products - including flight-worthy hardware.

- Perform finishing work with various composite fiber materials, including Carbon, Fiberglass, Kevlar, etc. Sanding, burring and smoothing over areas, applying sealing resins to cut or exposed edges.

- View and manipulate CAD models to gain understanding of complex assemblies and physical measurements.

- Advise on the development of quality control workflows, and physically monitor and verify the quality of finished parts.
