The Sports Medicine and Rehab Service at Veterinary Referral Associates (VRA) in Gaithersburg, Maryland, seeks applicants for a three-year traditional residency in canine sports medicine and rehabilitation.

A residency training program in sports medicine and rehabilitation is the joint responsibility of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (the College) and an active diplomate acting as a representative of the College and as a resident program director for the resident. A residency training program is an intense, intimate partnership in learning that can only be accomplished with frequent and regular interactions and communication between a resident program director and their resident.

Requirements:

* DVM/VMD, with successful completion of a rotating internship, and ideally specialty internship

* Ability to have a license to practice veterinary medicine in Maryland

* An interest and passion for learning, training, and growing their skill set in keeping with the goals & ideals of VRA.

* The understanding and ability to demonstrate the value of communication, client service, and relationship building in a team-oriented practice.

* A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and solutions-oriented approach

* Ability to work 5 days/week, including 1-2 Saturdays/month

Responsibilities:

The residency program places a strong emphasis on didactic training (rounds, journal club, book club, rehabilitation rounds), and provides ample support for clinical research and publication. Focus also in the realms of learning fundamental rehabilitation skills, whilst working under the supervision of a Diplomate of the ACVSMR on case management, diagnosis and individual treatment plans. Primary case responsibility is achieved pending performance evaluations. This residency will allow the candidate to complete all the requirements of a traditional ACVSMR (canine) residency in 156 weeks.

Year 1 Salary: $70,000 | Year 2 Salary: $75,000 | Year 3 Salary: $80,000

We also perform muscular skeletal ultrasound and needle arthroscopy.
