Job Summary
The Patient Access Representative is directly responsible for the reception, pre-admission, insurance verification, scheduling and registration of all patients coming into McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital.
Essential Functions
Detail oriented and able to identify and record pertinent patient information
Creates a friendly and professional environment for customers and represents the hospital in a positive manner.
This includes meeting the needs of patients and significant others from neonates to geriatrics. Maintains a professional relationship with co-workers and customers both in and out of the hospital.
Provides patients with information regarding scheduled treatment, financial and confidential rights and responsibilities.
Understands their role in a department staffed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year and responds to department needs with flexibility.
Additional Skills
Multiline phone and/or console, emergency communication procedures, insurance benefits and pre-certification process. Medical Terminology preferred. Excellent customer service skills.
Qualifications-Minimum
Familiar with basic computer programs
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent; Physician office or hospital experience required.
Experience
Previous customer service, medical office, clinical or hospital.
Hours
1 Full-Time Day Shift
Shift and Job Schedule
1 Full-Time 72 hours per pay period
This position required to work every other weekend
