The GM is responsible for the management of each team member. This includes proactively working on the team members career development planning, training, evaluations, disciplinary actions and more in conjunction with other Division leaders and Human Resources. In addition, the GM is expected to play a significant strategic role in assisting the Division leaders with understanding team capacity, strengths/weaknesses and areas of necessary expansion commensurate with the teams growth.

Leadership, Management & Accountability

  • Establish strong working relationships and demonstrate leadership with fellow team members, especially event coordinators sales and rental consultants, event team and operations.
  • Provide training and support to other members of assigned team including Event Sales/Rental Consultants and Event Coordinators as well as the division-wide sales team.
  • Oversee management of book of business- to include but not limited to:
    • Pricing decisions
    • Analyzing margin results compared to goal
    • Client touchpoints as mutually agreed upon with VP S/CR & Business Development Directors
  • Approve payment for all contracted services invoices related to event management by team ensuring all procedures are being followed.
  • Review the administrative work of the other team members for accuracy and ensure the event production tasks are being completed in line with the expectations.
  • Display a high level of leadership amongst each team and ensure all teams are motivated and successful in achieving the goals of the department

Retention, Penetration & Conversion
  • Ensure that each Event Team is on track to meet or exceed revenue target.
  • Develop strategies and activities to drive retention, penetration and conversion through all client facing elements of the business unit.
  • Ensure that the entire team is focused on the retention and penetration of the teams client relationships while successfully converting new business opportunities.
  • Provide leadership through the transition of projects from Business Development (sales) to the team.
  • Proactively manage revenue goals working with all team members to ensure the team meets the goal.
  • Operate as an Event Sales / Rental Consultant as necessaryto ensure successful execution of all projects.
  • Manage client touch points.


Budget Success
  • Oversee and directly support the Profits & Losses (P&L) success of the team as it relates to the Tent Operation.
  • Management of the book of business (for both TSF and RLF) - including but not limited to:
    • Team pricing decisions provide Event Sales Consultants with guidance and support the JPA approval process
    • Analyzing team margin results compared to their goal
    • Identifying revenue shortfalls and ensuring that each team is actively seeking work to fill voids
  • Demonstrate an Ownership mentality of all aspects of the teams operations


Operational Excellence
  • Ensure business unit is operating in accordance with Select Event Groups expectation around ops excellence:
    • Consistent Improvement innovation over inertia
    • Efficiency over productivity

  • Provide training and support to other members of assigned team including Event Sales / Rental Consultants and Event Coordinators/Operations Coordinators and Field crew.
  • Provide necessary training programs to new team members ensuring their success.
  • Provide continuous training programs to new and experienced team members.
  • Ensure teams are properly managing job specific information throughout the entire event process including but not limited to:
    • Accurate POR tickets and JPAs- create and maintain as new events come in and changes are made.
    • Coordinating and invoicing Contracted Services
    • All JPA reporting
    • Proposals
    • Client Invoicing and AR
  • Ensure teams are maintaining job folders on server
    • Detailed scope of work
    • Production schedules
    • Drawings
    • Production meetings
    • Other job specific information between team and operations.
  • Act as Liaison between and coordinate with the following people/groups as needed to facilitate successful events:
    • Team Directors and Division management
    • Other Divisions/Departments within Select


Culture Management
  • Work with Event Sales/Rental Consultants and Event/Rental Coordinators on career growth and trajectory providing avenues for growth within Select.
  • Review the administrative work of each team member for accuracy and ensure the event production tasks are being completed in line with the expectations.
  • Establish strong working relationships and demonstrate leadership with each team members as well as other employees within Select Event Group
  • Demonstrate a help first mentality when issues arise within each team
  • Demonstrate a commitment to our core values and purpose in every interaction
  • Demand Select Culture be on display in all aspects of the busines including client relations, crew interactions, staff communications, daily activities

Brand Ambassador
  • Support the teams growth as brand ambassador for Select Event Group
  • Develop streamlined talking points that articulate what Select Event Group is and how our local teams are best-in-class while also community based
  • Ensure Select has a top-notch reputation in our target markets and work with team members to mitigate risks to the brand as they develop.


  • 5 Years directly related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent listening, negotiating and presentation skills
