We are currently seeking a Director of Accounting to join our accounting team based in the Silver Springs, MD office.

JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Accounting role will support AMC's SVOD offerings including AMC+, AcornTV, Sundance, Allblk, Shudder, and IFC Unlimited. In addition, this role will be responsible for the Domestic and International Content Licensing sales across the AMC content portfolio. The role will report to the VP of Accounting-Streaming and manage a team of 3-4 Accounting professionals. This role will be responsible for implementing new processes, systems, and controls to keep pace with this growing business. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to manage change, think broadly about innovative and scalable ways of doing business, and enjoy new opportunities. This role will work across multiple teams including Accounting and Finance, Legal, Sales, IT and Production Operations. Candidates must have an ingrained desire and curiosity to learn about the business, as it relates directly and indirectly to their responsibilities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive process improvements and contribute to accounting transformation projects to achieve scalability and efficiency across processes and workflows.
  • Lead and manage the period-end financial close process for the SVOD business.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate accounting treatment of all transactions under US GAAP, including day-to-day transactions as well as complex, non-recurring transactions.
  • Review various period-end account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Develop and foster a strong working relationship across departments to ensure full cycle understanding and communication of actual results.
  • Prepare and/or review various analyses to identify unusual activity and ensure transactions are properly accounted for, including balance sheet and income statement fluctuation analyses, etc.
  • Facilitate quarterly and annual Company SEC filings by preparing and reviewing account balance rollforwards and other quarterly and annual disclosure schedules.
  • Engage in activities with foreign subsidiaries and consolidate results
  • Ensure timely and accurate information flow between the Accounting team, external Auditors and Internal Audit. Continually assess and improve upon Internal Controls to remain relevant with the growing business.
QUALIFICATIONS (Required & Preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7-10 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and SOX required
  • Strong attention to detail. Ability to organize, prioritize, delegate and multi-task responsibilities both individually and for the team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong writing skills
  • Curious and enthusiastic - not afraid to ask probing questions, challenge existing processes, and automate manual workflows
  • Comfortable in an evolving ecosystem of accounting issues and projects
  • The ability to solve complex problems with a positive, "can-do" attitude is a must
  • Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with peers and business partners
  • Media and Entertainment industry experience preferred


The base compensation range for this position is $160,000 to $175,000 commensurate with experience.
