POSITION: INVENTORY CONTROL CLERK

CLASSIFICATION: TECHNICAL

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for receiving and processing all transactions that relate to Inventory Control.

SUPERVISION BY: SUPERVISOR OF INVENTORY CONTROL

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Receive and process all stock coming into Mass Transportation Authority (MTA); place into proper inventory location.

* Process transactions that affect physical inventory.

* Issue parts and supplies; record transactions on inventory record for material requisitions.

* Process work orders for maintenance area; match material requisitions with related work orders and record.

* Evaluate inventory levels against inventory objectives. Generate requisitions for required parts, materials or supplies.

* Maintain daily data necessary to compile reports to submit to Data Entry System; maintain system operating skills.

* Maintain consistent and effective Union-Management and Management working relationships.

* Provide Supervision with required data, materials and/or reports, as requested.

* Know and perform all job duties within scope and direction of MTA policies, procedures and contractual agreements.

* Perform other duties, as assigned.

EDUCATION PREREQUISITE:

* High School Diploma

* Associates Degree Preferred

QUALIFICATIONS:

**MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE JOB PERFORMANCE STANDARDS**

* Maintain tight control over assigned inventory levels and transactions as directed, e.g. data in-put for all receiving and all issuing inventory, purchase requisitions, etc.

* Maintain constant evaluation of inventory levels, needs and replacement and keep Super-visor current on status of same.

* Maintain the use of sound judgement in handling communications with outside vendors, Supervisors and all MTA employees.

* Maintain strict adherence to all applicable MTA policies and procedures and all contractual requirements, in order to insure effective and efficient workflow and productivity.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, frequently required to walk and stand. Use of hands and arms is necessary to reach or use various tools, controls or objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. May also include frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing and pulling, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, use of ladders (included wall mounted), Lifting of up to 75 pounds from the floor to a waist height level. Employee is required to perform job duties in accordance with existing health and safety procedures and policies.
