3rd Shift 10:00pm to 6:00am Su-Th **($18/Hour) + 15% shift differential**

**Position Summary:**

The Packer (Machine Operator) is responsible for packing finished parts as the Standard of Identity directs and for the quality of the part being finished and shipped. The Master Packer must be able to troubleshoot basic problems and train Packers.

**Essential Functions:**

This position is responsible for the following tasks, duties and responsibilities:

* Review the Job Packet documentation, Quality Standards, and examine defective parts, when available, to gain an understanding of the process steps and Customer Quality requirements.

* Observe proper tracking techniques as documented on the standard of identity. This will include adhering label on the proper location on the carton, using the proper carton and/or poly liner if required, packing product in the right direction inside the carton, and the proper way to seal the carton.

* Properly and accurately maintain and fill out required paperwork.

* Perform visual and dimensional inspections with various hand measurement tools. Dimensional measurements may require measurements in fractions, decimals, or metric.

* Make accept/reject decisions based upon the Boundary Board and Quality Standard.

* Maintain accurate product counts.

* Stack pallets properly while using the proper size skids for carton stacking.

* Must have the ability to start and stop each inline machine

* Must have the knowledge and experience to correct basic problems when forming parts. This includes adjusting heats, recognizing different forming conditions such as webbing, cold roll, etc.

* Ability to completely train new packers in their job duties

* Follow good housekeeping at all times

* Follow all safety rules

* Any other duties assigned by Supervisor/Manager

**Education, Experience and Skills Required:**

* High School diploma or general education degree (GED; or one to three months related experience

and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience).

* Packers must have basic math, reading and comprehension skills. Must be willing to take direct orders from the Asst. Supervisor /Supervisor /Manager. Must be able to cooperate with co-workers. This position must have been trained and have the ability to perform the packer duties and responsibilities.

* Mathematics-Needs basic math skills. Must understand addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, in order to obtain reliable finished part counts. Must have the ability to read and interpret weight measurements on a scale.

* Packers must use reasoning ability at all times to ascertain what is happening on jobs as they run and know when to communicate for assistance with any issues.

* Ability to read and write and speak English so that he/she can understand printed work instructions, labels and quality sheets and communicates effectively with fellow workers and fully understand job information.

* Work will be performed in a manufacturing environment where all applicable safety procedures will be adhered. Area is well lighted and can exceed temperatures over 100 degrees.

* Must be able to lift 43 pounds 60 times per 8 hours shift

* Manufacturing environment that is well lighted, which requires the dexterity to work with equipment meeting safety requirements as well as production standards. Temperature in the production area can increase to 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
