GENERAL SUMMARY

This is a management position with responsibilities for the air and land side operation of Indianapolis International Airport. This employee represents the Indianapolis Airport Authority (IAA) in situations where IAA remaining staff is off duty, i.e., evenings, weekends, and holidays. While on duty, this employee is responsible for coordinating routine activities at the airport and may provide direction and assistance to other IAA employees; serve as liaison to airlines and other tenants and provide customer service to our passengers. In addition, this employee ensures the safety and security of the airport users. This employee may also perform the duties of the Reliever Airport Manager as scheduled or requested. Work is performed under supervision of the Airport Lead Operations Manager, with considerable latitude for independent judgment, specifically in assessments of situations requiring immediate action and determining if contact with the Airport Lead Operations Manager or other staff members, as prescribed in established operational procedures is necessary or appropriate. Performance is reviewed through evaluations, reports, conferences, and general observation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Conduct inspections of the airfield, terminal, parking facilities, runways and perimeter at least daily and more often as conditions necessitate in order to ensure that the airport is in compliance with applicable Federal Aviation Administrations (FAA) Regulations. Record in writing using IAA or FAA directed procedures all findings during inspections and timely report all operating conditions of the airport to the FAA, airlines, and pilots. Request the appropriate action to be taken by the operating departments to correct any problems observed in the operation of the airport. Provide customer service to our passengers.

* Enforce IAA Ordinances and FAA Regulations applicable to airport users, tenants, contractors, and the public.

* Maintain IAA and/or FAA required documentation including daily records, inspection reports, gate utilization charts, etc.

* Participate in FAA certification inspections and inquiries.

* Provide advice and recommendations concerning future airport design and participate in preconstruction meetings concerning security, logistics and coordination with necessary parties.

* Coordinate and keep advised all necessary parties concerning special events such as VIP arrivals, media coverage, etc.

* Assist and respond during disasters or severe weather conditions with affect to the Airport.

* Work irregular shifts including weekends and holidays.

* Perform any other functions assigned to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Airport.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

* Graduation from an accredited college or university or completion of extensive course work in airport management and experience in airport operations or maintenance.

* A working knowledge of FAA regulations concerning certification and security of a commercial airport.

* 1-3 years prior experience in airport management.

* Knowledge of crash, fire, rescue, and police procedures.

* Ability to perform all the physical and cognitive tasks outlined in the job description.

* Any combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the duties of this position.

* Ability to obtain the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Airport Certified Employee (ACE) - Operations certification within two (2) years of hire.

* Must obtain the AAAE Airport Certified Employee (ACE) certification within 2 years of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
