Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Army Writing Course Instructor to support the 70th RTI within the Maryland Army National Guard. The role involves delivering a specialized Army Writing Course to junior Army Officers, equipping them with the clinical and technical skills necessary to write effective memorandums and correspondence in accordance with AR 25-50. As the instructor, you will play a key role in facilitating learning objectives, instilling a graduate-level understanding of the subject matter, and providing a comprehensive educational experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) or TPOC designee to discuss course conduct, student demographics, materials, objectives, alignment with the curriculum, grading criteria, and other aspects of educational delivery.
  • Update and refine the course syllabus, including learning objectives, enabling objectives, and grading criteria. Submit the updated syllabus to the TPOC within the agreed-upon timeline.
  • Review, update, and customize existing lecture materials to maximize relevance and engagement for each class.
  • Conduct in-person class sessions according to the lesson plan and syllabus. Continuously assess students' progress and provide a mid-quarter assessment to the TPOC to aid in evaluation.
  • Utilize effective teaching methods to engage students, encourage participation, and promote a dynamic learning environment.
  • Develop and administer quizzes, exams, assignments, papers, and projects to accurately evaluate students' understanding and progress.
  • Conduct a face-to-face meeting with the TPOC or TPOC designee to establish a shared understanding of the course requirements.
  • Deliver engaging and informative course content, including lectures, assignments, quizzes, exams, and assessments. Provide a mid-quarter assessment of student progress to the TPOC.


Qualifications:
  • Relevant bachelor's or master's degree in a related field.
  • Proven experience in instructional design, course delivery, and student assessment.
  • Knowledge of AR 25-50 and the ability to teach effective army writing techniques.
  • Ability to tailor course content to diverse student demographics.
  • Familiarity with various teaching methodologies, assessment techniques, and educational technology tools.
