Certified Nursing Assistant Instructor & Clinical Supervisor- 0.4 FTE

The Certified Nurse's Assistant (CNA) Instructor will instruct students according to the required state curriculum designed to assist students to build knowledge and clinical skills aimed at passing the licensing exam for Illinois CNA. Instructors are responsible for the supervision of students at clinical sites and assisting students in registering for the Illinois State CNA licensing exam. Clinical supervision will take place at community sites primarily on evenings/weekends with each student required to complete a minimum of 40 hours per student .The amount of clinical time will vary depending on the number of students per class, available instructors and available sites.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • State of Illinois Educator License with Stipulations ELS (CTEP) - Nurse Aide/Nursing Assistant
  • Two (2) years of medical surgical or physical rehab nursing experience with one year focusing on care for the elderly, including Alzheimer's clients.
  • IDPH Train the Trainer and Approved Evaluator certificate.
  • Ability to coach students in a laboratory and in the clinical setting.
  • Ability to perform physical work with patients and students in a clinical setting
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and push 100 pounds.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teach the course curriculum as outlined in the manual entitled
  • Build knowledge and develop clinical skills aimed at assisting students to obtain the CNA license.
  • Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.
  • Evaluate and document students' progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained.
  • Communicate effectively with students, other faculty, and all those affiliated with the course including staff at clinical training facilities.
  • Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care.
