**Job Overview:**

Under supervision, receives emergency and non-emergency calls requesting police, fire, medical, or other emergency services; determines the nature, location, and priority; enters all pertinent information into a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system; uses multi-frequency radios, telephone, and other communications systems to dispatch all appropriate resources as necessary and in accordance with established policy and procedure. Monitors installation alarm equipment and dispatches as needed. Performs related duties as assigned.

**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:**

+ Receives, prioritizes, and transmits incoming and outgoing radio, phone, and alarm traffic.

+ Effectively and efficiently documents CAD.

+ Answers routine inquiries and refers calls to the appropriate personnel or department

+ Determines response area and dispatches resources accordingly.

+ Comprehends and follows oral and written direction in a timely manner.

+ Strong verbal and written communication skill.

+ Acts reasonably and decisively under stressful or emergency situations.

+ Establish and maintain effective work relationships.

+ Read and interpret paper and digital maps.

+ Able to sit or stand for extended periods.

+ Learn and operate National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS).

+ Ability to operate within an environment that requires information to be kept confidential.

**Basic Qualifications:**

+ Must possess High School diploma or equivalent.

+ Minimum of 1-year dispatching or customer service experience.

+ International Academy of Emergency Dispatch - Emergency Medical Dispatcher within 3 months of employment.

+ Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate, within 3 months of employment

+ Higher classifications must meet CBA requirements.
