****Position Description****

**Job Summary**

**POSITION SUMMARY**

This position is responsible for processing outbound and receiving inbound materials to fulfil customer orders within an industrial gypsum production environment through manual labor and use of heavy capacity forklifts (15,500 lb.) track mobile (rail mover to move railroad cars) machinery to load and unload product on multiple modes of transport including trucks or rail cars.

This position is represented by Teamsters Local #117.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES**

* Processes outbound orders and customer shipments via administrative functions including documentation through enterprise resource planning systems (SAP and internal programs)

* Champions a safety first environment and keeps up to date on new safety policies, procedures and initiatives

* Performs quality checks per the quality control plan and escalates issues to Lead if required

* Performs poly-bag, secure rail cars and forklift driving/duties as required

* Safely operates mobile equipment and tools to transport wallboard according to quality and specification standards

* Properly adds 8 lbs. dunnage (spacers between wallboard stacks) to trailer according to standards and places dunnage in warehouse for any transported load placement. Re-supplies dunnage at multiple points in warehouse using fork lifts

* Adheres to Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures to help address mechanical issues or upset conditions

* Performs daily fork truck inspection and refuel as needed

* Moves wallboard loads within warehouse properly with forklift adhering to all safety rules and traffic guidelines

* Inspect and cull out of spec/rejected wallboard from warehouse with forklift

* Occasionally works at heights

* Maintains an accurate wallboard count making sure every wallboard is of good quality, ensure culled boards are accounted for according to systems and procedures

* Assists with troubleshooting responses to problems or breakdowns in the warehouse area and as required

* Adheres to all housekeeping standards and ensures work space is clean, safe and in working order within assigned area(s) including, but not limited to; painting, taking trash out, etc.

* Maintains in-depth and ongoing knowledge of assigned equipment, work area(s), procedural and safety updates

* Works well with others in a team environment

* Adheres to all company policies and procedures

* Assists with projects and administrative paperwork including recording and entering data into established systems, monthly Safety Management Audit Tool (SMATs), inventory tracking, damage and injury reports, and World Class Manufacturing (WCM) work area improvement projects.

* Reports directly to the Customer Service Supervisor Participates in meetings as required

* Participates as required in all continuous improvement efforts

* Must report to work on a consistent and timely basis

**OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

* Performs back up/coverage for other Warehouse Departmental duties once certified within assigned coverage position

* Performs other duties as assigned

* Knowledge of loading area processes and procedures

* Ability to operate mechanical equipment including fork truck which is primarily driven in reverse requiring turning and twisting of torso and neck

* Ability to perform repetitive functions in a timely and accurate manner

**Required Qualifications**

**MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED**

* High school education or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience to demonstrate proficiency

* Forklift experience and/or ability to be qualified within training period

* Mechanical aptitude to operate machinery

* Proven ability to read, write, interpret and/or apply instructions to assigned activities

* Display adaptability, customer focus, and good written and oral communication

**PREFERRED OR DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**

* 1 or more years of experience within a shipping/loading warehouse environment

* 1-3 years industrial manufacturing experience

**FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY**

Support warehouse cost deployment to identify loss and projects to drive improvment

**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY**

None

**WORKING CONDITIONS**

Works in a manufacturing plant environment with limited HVAC, concrete floors, and exposure to industrial noise, dust, chemicals and temperature changes. Normal plant operation is 24 hours, 7 days a week and work hours may vary depending on business needs. May require long hours, and weekend and holiday work. May require travel by air and rental cars.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

Must be capable of wearing personal protective equipment necessary to comply with government and company safety standards whenever engineered methods of reducing hazards or physical requirements cannot be reasonably accommodated. Job includes tasks that require walking, bending, twisting, gripping, stair and ladder climbing, entering confined spaces, navigating rough terrain and occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs. May require long periods of sitting, walking, and standing, working on a computer or engaging in telephone conversation.
