Job Details

Our Sterile Processing Department has an essential role in the delivery of safe patient care. Our team makes sure that all medical/surgical supplies are cleaned, prepared, processed, stored, and issued for patient care and maintains a high standard for sterilization technique and product quality throughout our facility.

Requirements:

* Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Experience may be considered in lieu of education requirements.

* Previous experience in sterile processing preferred or on-the-job trained OB/CS/OR technician. Certification in surgery or sterile processing preferred.

* Considerable knowledge of instrumentation and sterillization preferred. Requires good communication skills.

Responsibilities of the Sterile Processing Tech position include, but are not limited to:

* Monitors workstation supply levels and restocks sterile processing supplies as necessary.

* Distributes supplies and/or equipment appropriately and in a courteous and timely manner.

* Selects appropriate process to decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment safely and effectively.

* Washes/decontaminates instruments, instrument trays, and other supplies according to established departmental procedure. Assembles and packages instruments and trays according to procedures.

* Inspects instruments wear and breakage during identification and assembly procedures.

Disposes of all contaminated waste material properly.

* Use of appropriate procedures for sterilizer parameter testing and interpretation of test results, i.e., biological challenge tests, Bowie-Dick/Dart tests, and load challenge tests.

* Completes and maintains applicable documentation.

* Operates sterilizers and other equipment for processing instruments and supplies correctly and safely. Use of appropriate procedures for cleaning sterile processing machinery. Completes and maintains cleaning logs.

* Accurately completes instrument inventory checklists and load records utilizing appropriate computer application and scanners.

* Perform other duties assigned by Department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.

Hours

Evenings; Primary Shift; 2pm10pm or 3pm to 11pm

One weekend shift per month consisting of Saturday-Sunday.

Pay

Non-Certified $11.41 - $16.12

Certified $12.27 - $17.33
