Description

The SEE (Summer Explorations & Experiences) Enrichment Specialist provides enrichment activities for Winston Salem Forsyth County School's Summer Explorations and Experiences Camps for children K-5th grades. Instruction and activities include Arts/Crafts, Coordinated Approach To Child Health (CATCH), STEM, SEL, and Youth Sports. The school assignments will be given upon hire.

WS/FCS SEE Program will run Monday-Thursday, 8am-4:30pm from June 24, 2024- July 18,2024.

Initial training date to be determined and attendance is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Lead enrichment activities listed in the position summary.
  2. Lead a group of 15+ Students
  3. Attend training sessions to increase competency in working with students
  4. Document, track, and maintain daily progress and academic records of assigned students. Provide feedback regarding students' progress as well as behavior.
  5. Acknowledge student efforts, accomplishments, and progress.
  6. Assist students in developing self-confidence, raising self-concept, and reducing anxiety or fear of failure in academic work.
  7. Work with students to develop a high level of motivation in academic areas and positive attitudes toward learning and studying.
  8. Serve as a role model for students being served.
  9. Adhere to all processes, procedures, rules, and regulations of the YMCA program, and School District.
  10. Required to Participate in Aquatics Activities (Including Swimming, or Deck Supervision)
  11. Have fun and keep students engaged.

Training is paid at minimum wage. Non-instructional work may be paid at Program Counselor rate.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with Arts/Crafts, Sports, Physical Activity Programs, SEL Programs.
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Experience working with a diverse community.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications Preferred ( or within 30 days of hire).
