Job Overview

The Staff Psychiatrist - in a 75% role - is a member of the Counseling and Psychiatric Service (CAPS) ( based on Georgetown's Hilltop Campus with occasional days at our Capitol Campus ( in downtown Washington, DC.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

+ Evaluating students with psychological problems

+ Prescribing and monitoring medication for psychiatric illness

+ Educating students about their illness and medication

+ Participating in the CAPS on-call system

+ Providing psychiatric consultation services to staff of the Counseling and Psychiatric Service (CAPS)

+ Assisting with the management of psychiatric emergencies and hospitalizations.

Work Interactions

The Staff Psychiatrist provides direct service to students, consultations to deans and faculty regarding student psychiatric issues, medication management, and consultation to other CAPS staff and University offices as necessary.

Requirements and Qualifications

+ M.D. or D.O. with board certification in psychiatry

+ Licensure in the District of Columbia

+ Minimum of 3 years acceptable clinical experience - preference for college mental health experience
