(Hybrid Role/Only 2 Days in the office)

FMI is a dynamic trade association located in Crystal City, Virginia. We are the champion for the food industry and the issues that make a difference to our members in the food retail industry. Our members come from a variety of members from retailers who sell to consumers, to producers who supply the food, as well as a wide variety of companies who provide critical services. The reach and impact of our work is extensive, touching the lives of over 100 million households in the U.S. and representing an $800 billion industry with nearly 6 million employees. Our work is meaningful!

Our membership team is focused on supporting our current members, recruiting new ones, managing the dues renewal process, and facilitating opportunities for members to convene throughout the year. To help us accomplish this mission-critical work, we are looking to hire a Membership Assistant who will provide administrative, planning, data tracking, CRM, and project management support for the Member Relations team.

This opportunity has lots of variety. In this role, you can look forward to:

  • Serving as a point of contact and responding to, tracking, and managing inbound inquiries via telephone and email regarding FMI membership, events, and other related inquiries.
  • Utilizing FMI s MatrixMaxx database to oversee our online membership directory to include entering and updating new information.
  • Updating the Membership Department s web pages on the FMI website.
  • Performing various administrative duties to include compiling member packets; drafting/editing documents; and helping plan share group meetings.
  • Managing the FMI townhouse located on Capitol Hill to include managing meeting space; processing invoices; coordinating maintenance; and maintaining supplies.

The candidate who will be successful in this role will have:

  • A minimum of three years of experience working in a similar role.
  • Experience working in a membership department within a trade association (preferred).
  • Meeting coordination skills (required).
  • Extensive project management experience.
  • A clear understanding and use of database software to process and maintain information.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to travel domestically for business conferences and events.
