Facility Security Officer


Job Details

Administers and assures compliance with security regulations and procedures to include badging requirements in accordance with DoD guidelines. Directs and advises all departments regarding security regulations and procedures to include badging requirements. Routinely interacts with Government agencies relative to security and badging matters. May also be responsible for the development, administration, coordination and monitoring the comprehensive security programs.


**Essential Responsibilities:**


1) Performs as the badging official to complete security requirements for prime and subcontractor personnel.


2) Plans and coordinates security, badging services, and related functions to include the implementation and supervision of programs to ensure maximum utilization within the facility.


3) Coordinate with the responsible Company Facility Security Officer (FSO), to perform functions to ensure personnel DoD Clearance requirements are met and maintained.


4) Screen and process badging and access support to Company and subcontractor personnel, vendors, and visitors at customer/company site(s), to include foreign nationals.


5) Analyze and proof mandated security documents for submission to Navy security department for personnel, vendors, and visitors to acquire


6) Ensure adherence to regulations for generation, transfer, storage, and handling of classified materials.


7) Process and authorize key and lock requests, in coordination with contract key custodians and customer locksmith, to include periodic key audits.


8) Process official event security and badge needs such as for launches, camera permits, provide instructions to requesters and/or users.


9) Creates and maintains employee security files in accordance with government and company guidelines; prepares and maintains detailed records pertaining to control of classified matter, safes, keys, personnel clearances, badges, etc.


10) Coordinates, implements and ensures that proper industrial security procedures are followed in accordance with the National Industrial Security Operating Manual (NISPOM) and Standard Practice Procedures (SPP)


11) Acts as a consultant to various levels of management on military and plant security problems and ensures compliance with the Department of Defense Industrial Security Manual.


12) Investigates losses and security violations and recommends corrective actions


13) Monitors and conducts security briefings and security education programs


14) Audits and initiates procedures to improve the existing security system as deemed necessary


15) Interfaces with appropriate government agencies relating to industrial security


16) Obtains industrial security related records for all new industrial security clearance or continuation of current clearance for individuals within the business units


Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.


**Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:**


Minimum two years administrative experience, and two to five years DoD security related experience. Must be able to obtain or have Personnel Reliability Program Certification. Must be able to obtain or have a favorable National Agency Check Investigation. DoD Clearance of Secret or above also applicable. Must be knowledgeable with data collection compilation software applications. Must be able to acquire access to PASS, and JPAS. Position may require travel.


Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance.


Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.


**Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:**


Most positions involve work typical of office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must posses planning/ organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.
