POSITION PURPOSE

UW Recreation is a department within the Division of Student Life. We provide safe, accessible, and dynamic recreation experiences to engage students in growth and wellbeing. UW Recreation serves over one million students, faculty, and staff each academic year through informal and formal recreation, including fitness and sports classes, intramural and club sports, outdoor education, mindfulness programs, and more.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Fitness and Wellness Manager, Group Fitness Instructors are responsible for teaching specialized classes such as dance, cardio, and/or strength and conditioning classes. Examples of duties include:

Developing and implementing lessons plans that are in accordance with their training,

Providing customer service

Managing risk

Responding to emergency situations.

Group Fitness Instructor I must have been teaching between 0-3 years.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Certification in applicable area required (i.e. ACE Group Fitness, Schwinn Cycling, TRX, etc.). Education can substitute for certification (i.e. Dance major)

Zero to three years of group fitness instruction experience

ADDITIONAL REQUIRMENTS

Successful completion of format specific audition

Earn and maintain certification in First Aid, CPR, & AED
