Rec Center Nursery Attendant


Job Details

Under general supervision, the Recreation Center Nursery Operations Assistant performs a variety of duties involved in the planning, organization, and coordination of the Nursery program; performs general clerical work in support of the Recreation center; and provides general information and assistance to staff and the public.

The work schedule for this position is as follows: Current Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 8:15-11:15am. Beginning October 1st Monday-Friday 8:15-11:15am.

* This position reports to the Recreation Center Supervisor.

* This Nursery Operations Assistant exercises no supervision over other positions, but may oversee participants in group activities.

Monitor and assist children in the Nursery program to ensure their safety.

Perform equipment/facility setup, as well as post activity cleanup.

Coordinate/oversee recreation activities.

Interact with patrons and other staff.

Perform other related job duties as assigned.Ability to:

* Learn equipment/facility setup activities and appropriate recreational activities.

* Properly maintain assigned areas.

* Follow oral and written instructions.

* Perform assigned tasks properly and efficiently.

* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.

* Provide own transportation to and from work site.

* Troubleshoot a nd operate electrical equipment.

* Handle any crisis situation and work under outside pressure.

* Communicate on a daily basis -- responding to questions or complaints; enforcing rules.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

* Prior experience that allows applicant demonstrate the ability to safety care for children and provide excellent customer service and communication with patrons and staff.

Age Requirement:

* Must be 15 years of age or older.

* Training: High School Diploma or equivalent ( or currently attending high school)

License/Certification:

* Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license.

* Possession of First Aid and CPR Certificates.

Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:

Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, twist, and grasp; work with hands above shoulder height with up to 40 lbs.; work with arms extended at shoulder height with up to 20 lbs.; lift or carry 50 lbs. or less and push and/or pull heavy weights (over 75 lb. weights) on a regular basis; and exposure to hot, cold, and outdoors.
