POSITION TYPE: Hourly, Non-ExemptJOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the maintenance of the City of Cape Girardeau Outdoor Sports Complexes and Community Centers.MAJOR DUTIES:Maintains the grounds of the Sports Complexes including mowing, trimming, dragging and lining athletics fields, general cleaning, trash removal and other landscaping related responsibilities. Performs required responsibilities related to turf care and chemical application.Performs regular and preventative maintenance of city community centers. Maintains and repairs sports complex maintenance equipment .Maintains athletic fields including watering, dragging, leveling and lining. Provides supervision of facility rental and non-rental events. Sets up for and cleans up after events and tournaments.Works evenings, weekends and holidays as needed. Participates in a weekend rotation to provide coverage of athletics tournaments and events and facility rentals. Removes trash and cleans restrooms.Assists senior level staff with improvement and other related projects as assigned. Operates equipment including mowers, pickup trucks. tractors and other sports complex related maintenance equipment.Performs other related duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:Knowledge of grounds maintenance and landscaping practices. A demonstrated ability to work independent of direct supervision.General knowledge in the operation of outdoor equipment used to maintain turf and landscaping including mowers, trimmers, pick-up trucks and other general tools.A demonstrated understanding of safety guidelines.General knowledge of general facility maintenance and repair practices. The ability to interpret verbal and written instructions.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Qualified applicants must possess a valid driver's license.Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.BENEFITS:Benefit package includes health, dental, and life insurance provided, retirement pension plan provided, paid vacation leave, paid sick leave, and more. The total compensation value for this position is $23.55 hourly/$48,979 yearly, which consists of the starting hourly rate plus the benefit package.
