**Description**
**Responsibilities and Duties:**
* Performs routine manual labor associated with cleaning and maintaining buildings and grounds including, but not limited to cleaning windows, furniture, walls and fixtures
* Follows all operational and safety procedures provided
* Identifies cleaning problems and determine appropriate remedies
* Performs daily cleaning tasks under direction of cleaner team lead
* Performs routine and comprehensive cleaning of School
* Operates and maintains floor cleaning equipment; strip, seal, finish, and polish floors
* Provides input and suggestions for keeping School buildings well maintained and safe for students and staff
* Monitors grounds and building security, secure building before departure; locking all windows and exterior doors
* Checks electrical appliances use to ensure that hazards are not created
* Meets accepted standards of professional behavior, including commitment to punctuality and attendance
* Adheres to no smoking and/or tobacco use policy in all School buildings, School grounds and in School vehicles
* All other duties as assigned
**Knowledge Skills and Abilities:**
* Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with fellow staff
* Skills and abilities normally associated with completion of high school or GED equivalency
* Ability to read, understand and follow verbal and written instructions
* Knowledge of general cleaning methods and procedures
* Strong organization skills and close attention to detail
* Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
* Valid driver license preferred
**Physical Requirements:**
* Frequently requires physical exertion to reach, bend, walk, climb, stoop, kneel and stand for long periods of time
* Must be able to move, lift, carry and push heavy objects more than 100 pounds
* Manual dexterity and coordination to operate vacuums, floor cleaning machines and related cleaning equipment
* Ability for distance and close vision and depth perception
* Most work is indoors, occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals
