JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Branch Manager, this position handles all warehouse duties including shipping and receiving, cylinder handling, and stocking of hard goods in the warehouse, loading/unloading trucks and may occasionally work in the showroom assisting customers with sales at the counter while maintaining compliance with all regulatory agencies and requirements including, but not limited to OSHA, FDA, ISO and Airgas regulations, policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Safety and Regulatory Compliance

Demonstrates and aligns with Airgas Safety Pledge and 12 Life Saving Rules.

Exemplifies, promotes and develops safe work behaviors.

Ensures all applicable regulatory (OSHA, FDA, EPA) requirements are met and applicable training and recordkeeping is performed to meet departmental and location deadlines.

Maintains compliance with all Specialty, Medical and Food Gas Standard Operating Procedures, SMS and ISO requirements and any and all associated paperwork.

Essential Functions:

Stocking, storing, labeling, picking, packing and distribution of all materials and supplies.

Physical receipt, checking and storage of delivered materials into the warehouse; performs inventory of warehouse materials.

Enforces policies for proper receipt, storage and distribution of materials; reviews invoices.

Operates a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.

Ensures all safety rules are strictly observed.

Follows company policies and procedures.

Performs related duties as required.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Organize and control inventoried items

May operate forklift and other equipment as required.

Assist with inventory, housekeeping, showroom displays, and demonstrations as required.

When needed, will be responsible for performing back-up duties per the branch daily checklist.

Assist customers with merchandise and loading and unloading cylinders as required

Other duties and projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated ability as a highly motivated individual who performs exceptionally well in a Customer Service/Product Delivery capacity.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, self-starter, self-motivation, sense of urgency, personable, extroverted personality, well organized, ability to achieve goals, ability to focus and pay attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.

Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.

Ability to read and comprehend safety data sheets.

Ability to follow instructions and procedures.

Ability to analyze a customers situation and help resolve customer problems as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

2-3 years of experience in warehouse operations and maintenance of warehouse equipment or an equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.

Knowledge of inventory control methods and procedures, and the ability to apply such knowledge to practical situations.

Knowledge of the stock and inventories generally warehoused

Working knowledge of the industrial gas business and welding products is highly desirable.

Forklift certified

COMPUTER SKILLS:

SAP knowledge and experience is a plus.

Basic to intermediate proficiency in the use of the companys computer operating system (SAP).

Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other day to day computer software programs.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Minimal outside of daily driving requirements (0 10%)

COMMUNICATION and/or CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write routine business reports and business correspondence in English.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and/or customers.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and safety data sheets using the English language.

Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Forklift Certification
