POSITION: Spacecraft Analog Design Engineer, Rockville, MD

Quantum Space is looking for an experienced Spacecraft Analog Design Engineer to inform and improve the design and flight of Quantums spacecraft. You will work with a fast-paced and tight-knit multi-disciplinary team to rapidly and truly change the future of space technology. RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Understand and infer detailed design elements from spacecraft system and hardware level requirements.
  • Drive the design to maximize power efficiency, performance and minimize size, mass and cost of space flight hardware.
  • Validate concepts by design calculations and simulations.
  • Design circuits and systems using schematic capture CAD software tools.
  • Layout PCB or work with PCB layout designers to create high power circuit board designs while complying with radiation, thermal, environmental, and EMI requirements.
  • Execute board power up, validation and comprehensive testing of power and analog electrical designs.
  • Take designs through environmental qualification testing for TVAC, shock, vibration and EMI.
  • Create hardware acceptance test plans for manufacturing.
  • Perform component worst case, circuit failures modes effect analysis and derating analyses.
  • Conduct preliminary and critical design reviews of flight hardware.
  • Collaboration with other design disciplines (electrical, software, thermal, mechanical, and systems engineering).
  • Support of test and software engineers during various phases of board verification: design, bring-up and test.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant high reliability hardware design experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in analog and DC power electronics design.
  • Proficient in WCA, FMEA and derating analyses.
  • Design of DC-DC power supplies, motor controllers and control loops.
  • Proficient in simulation tools (PSpice, MATLAB, etc).
  • Proficient with electrical test equipment.
  • Technical writing and oral presentation skills.
  • Experience with flight hardware integration and testing.
  • Knowledge of commercial, industry, and NASA specifications and standards.
