The Mines Testing Center - Temporary Administrative Assistant I primarily proctors students taking exams at the testing center. Most of the work hours are from 5-9pm throughout the semester on designated dates.
Position Responsibilities
* Greet students.
* Maintain a quiet and reduced distraction testing environment.
* Assist with checking students in and out of the Mines Testing Center (MTC) according to established procedures.
* Proctor exams according to established MTC policies and procedures.
* Monitor students taking exams in the testing rooms and individual testing rooms, in-person and/or via CCTV camera.
* Maintain confidentiality and integrity of testing environment; (check IDs and calculators, monitor testers throughout testing sessions, and secure the Mines Testing Center according to institutional procedure).
* Respond to and troubleshoot testing situations with professionalism and a calm demeanor.
* Perform general office tasks such as daily exam preparation, record keeping, and securing exam materials.
Additional Responsibilities
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* One year of clerical experience.
* Respectful of diverse backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience proctoring exams.
* Ability to manage and prioritize work assignments independently.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Excellent time and organizational skills.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively in both independent and team situations.
* Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft applications and the ability to access basic web and software programs.
Compensation
* $20-$24/hour
Schedule
* PT (4-16 hours per week during the semester)
* Supporting Common Hour exams from 5-9 pm throughout the semester on designated dates.
* Option to work shifts (up to 8 hours) during Fall and Spring final exams 7:30 am - 9:30 pm (Fri, Sat, Mon-Wed of exam week), possibly working up to 40 hours over the five-day final examination period.
* Option of some daytime assistance based on office coverage needs.
