JOB SUMMARY

The Heavy Equipment Operator III will operate various types or classes of heavy equipment in order to complete construction projects. This position may also be assigned Laborer duties, when needed.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Operate heavy equipment, e.g., compactors, water trucks, articulated end dumps, tractor and pans, dozers, motor graders and excavators.
  • Operate small equipment or hand tools.
  • Perform daily pre- and post-trip equipment inspections and report any needed repairs, broken or improperly working equipment on an equipment report.
  • Submit a daily task and time report.
  • Perform Laborer duties, as needed.
  • Comply with the company s safety policies, as well as Occupational Safety & Health Administration regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least three years of experience operating heavy equipment
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, safety rules and memorandums in English
  • Ability to read and understand stakes
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, as well as being able to work independently with attention to detail
  • Leadership skills
  • Reliable transportation
  • Available to work weekend or holiday shifts, as scheduled


PREFERRED SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Basic mechanical knowledge
  • First Aid or CPR training
  • Valid Class A commercial driver s license (CDL) - High quality attribute.


REQUIRED LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
  • Valid Class C driver s license
  • Safe driving record for the past three years
