The Johns Hopkins Health System ( JHHS or Organization )has engaged Major, Lindsey & Africa on an exclusive basis to conduct a search for a Practice Group Leader & Chief Legal Counsel to join their Technology and Commercial Transactions Practice Group.

Overview: Reporting to the Vice President & Deputy General Counsel, this position is responsible for the provision and delivery of legal advice regarding various legal matters of The Johns Hopkins Health System Corporation ( JHHS ) and its affiliates. It includes responsibility for the interpretation of laws and regulations specific to assigned area of expertise/practice group and advises executives, senior management and board members on various matters that impact the organization. They serve in a leadership role on health system committees. The Practice Group Leader & Chief Legal Counsel works alongside the General Counsel and the Deputy General Counsel to develop and oversee the delivery of legal services and resources to accomplish corporate goals, strategic initiatives and priorities.

Experience: At least fifteen (15)+ years of experience in management and leadership, with significant business impact; 5 to 7 years of managerial experience strongly preferred. Strong leadership skills and proven success in managing, developing, mentoring and inspiring attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff. Experience in managing, drafting and negotiating a variety of complex technology transactions and agreements (e.g. complex IT transactions, reseller agreements, marketing agreements, collaboration and commercial licensing arrangements). Background in a healthcare setting or related industry is required.

Location/Relocation: Baltimore, MD, or fully remote.

Compensation: Competitive base and bonus.

Bar: Must be licensed to practice law at least one U.S. jurisdiction and eligible to become licensed in Maryland.
