FACILITIES MAINT TECHNICIAN

Position Summary
Under general supervision performs construction and general maintenance work on Tribal facilities, buildings, and equipment.
Supervision Exercised
Reports to the Operations Maintenance Supervisor.
May lead the work of assigned personnel.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
May perform any of all of the following tasks:
Performs basic carpentry, cement finishing, electrical repair, plumbing, plastering, painting, glazing, roofing, and sheet rock work.
Inspects buildings, facilities, and equipment for damage and vandalism and repairs basic mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
Using hand and power tools, assists in erecting new and/or remodeling of existing buildings.
Installs motors and maintains heating/cooling units.
Visually inspects building exterior and trim, ceiling panels, roof, fire exits, walls, floors, and performs basic repair work as needed.
Operates and performs minor maintenance on heavy equipment owned by the Pueblo of Sandia.
Notifies supervisor of equipment and supplies needed; maintains inventory and picks up supplies.
Provides assistance to field maintenance for landscaping and general grounds responsibilities.
Performs routine preventive maintenance on equipment.
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
Excavation, assist in utility repair, grounds keeping, and custodial duties.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to perform construction activities using hand and power tools
Ability to work in a safe manner following established safety regulations
Ability to operate equipment used in construction projects
Ability to make basic repairs to mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems
Ability to maintain equipment and supply inventory
Ability to lead the work of assigned personnel
Basic knowledge of operation and maintenance requirements on electrical, heating, cooling and related building mechanical systems
Knowledge of basic carpentry
Knowledge of general safety rules, requirements, and procedures.
Some knowledge of compounds and potential effects when mixed or used.
Ability to perform duties considering the full use of Personal Protective Equipment without restrictions.
Availability 24 hours a day.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
Required:
High School Diploma, GED Certification or equivalent.
Six (6) months prior experience in general construction, building maintenance and/or yard maintenance work.
Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver's license.
Preferred:
CDL license.
Licensing Status
Must be able to successfully pass a Background and Character Investigation in compliance with PL 101.630.
Ability to obtain and maintain any other licenses and/or certifications as determined by management.
Will require a post-offer, pre-employment and random drug screening.
Working Conditions
Duties are performed indoors or outdoors, and subject to seasonal extremes and inclement weather.
Tasks may be performed on uneven, carpeted, hard and inclined slopes.
Subject to hazards such as paints, thinners, solvents, gasoline, waxes, disinfectants, and cleaning compounds.
Subject to hazards such as heights, motorized equipment, hand tools and electrical voltages.
Additional hazards include exposure to infections, diseases, fumes, odors, dust, mists, and gases.
Duties may involve walking, climbing, crouching, kneeling, and the ability to assume a prone position.
Work hours subject to change beyond regular schedule as required and approved by management. This includes working on facility closures to avoid exposure to staff and public.
Exposure to bodily fluids, and waste including pests and various animals.
Specific physical body movements require the following:
