Copy Editor
We are currently seeking Copy Editors to support our Federal client with reviewing finished intelligence papers prior to publication and dissemination. This role requires 100% on-site support in Washington, DC.
What you will be doing:
- Recommending edits to draft papers, graphics, and other products to improve quality and ensure products are editorially correct without altering technical accuracy or meaning
- Ensuring products conform to client's policy guidance and style standards
- Applying writing standards, critical thinking skills, and expertise in grammar, punctuation, and copyediting to identify and resolve editorial issues and inconsistencies in complex text and graphics
- Revising corporate style guidance as necessary
- Developing and recommending editorial and publishing policies and practices along with standard operation procedures for editing and/or publishing
What you need to be considered for this role (required): - Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in in English, writing, or a related field (years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree)
- 2-6 years of copyediting experience
- Experience reviewing written products for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and adherence to style guidelines
- Experience performing copyedit reviews of intelligence products, including classification portion markings and endnotes
- Knowledge of Intelligence Community agency/office style guides
- Strong verbal and written communication skills is a must
- Ability to effectively and efficiently multi-task, prioritize, and carry out projects through to completion with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Demonstrated analytical, reasoning, planning, and problem-solving abilities
- Self-motivated, proactive, and independent thinker with high energy/positive attitude
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility required
