**This is a TEMPORARY POSITION that WILL NOT lead to permanent employment.**

**This position works under immediate supervision of the Building Maintenance Superintendent.**

**DUTIES**

Performs general labor outdoors. Assists with lawn and grounds maintenance by mowing grass utilizing push and riding mowing equipment. Assists with weeding, trimming, mulching, and planting by utilizing weed eater, rototiller, hand-held chainsaw, and trimmer. Sweeps and removes ice and/or snow from parking lots and walkways with a leaf blower, shovel, snow blower and/or plow truck. Moves furniture, sets up chairs and tables for indoor and outdoor activities. Digs holes, hauls trash, loads and unloads trucks. Picks up & disposes of litter, trash & debris in & around buildings.

Performs general labor indoors. Assists with cleaning in the living, dining and restroom areas of the residential homes (i.e. sweeps, scrubs, mops, waxes, buffs & polishes floors, cleans and/or polishes furniture, washes beds, tables & chairs, washes & cleans walls and ceilings, pressure washes bathrooms and showers, washes interior & exterior of windows), scrubs and cleans drinking fountains, sinks, fixtures, countertops, showers & toilets, empties trash, cleans and polishes mirrors & glass, keeps restroom stocked with toilet paper, paper towels & soap, shampoos carpets as directed by supervisor. May assist with building repairs. Assists with maintaining vehicles and grounds keeping equipment in proper condition by gassing vehicles and completing inspections. Reports any repairs needed to supervisor. Operates skid loader, chipper, tractors, multi-deck mowers, plow trucks, sprayers, etc as needed. Makes deliveries and pick-ups of food, supplies, and equipment to buildings or to state warehouse as needed May assist custodial workers as needed. Assists maintenance repair workers in other areas as needed. Assists in food service operation to include unloading and putting merchandise from trucks away. Assists community service workers in completing assignments. Performs other miscellaneous grounds maintenance duties to ensure safety on a basis of need to include minor repairs and cleaning of vehicles; roadway and parking lot maintenance and special projects. Follows all safety procedures in completion of assigned duties. Attends all required meetings and trainings. **Qualifications**

Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication & division. In accordance with Section 124.11 (B)(2) of Revised Code, Director of Administrative Services has determined this classification to be unskilled labor class & therefore exempt from written examination. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. Skill in general maintenance & manual labor procedures & use of associated tools &/or equipment*. Ability to carry out simple instructions; follow basic oral instructions; cooperate with co-workers on group projects; physically perform manual labor & lift 100 pounds. Background Check Information The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Rule 5123:2-2-02, Background Investigations for Employment, outlines disqualifying offenses that will preclude an applicant from being employed by the Department of Developmental Disabilities. **The final applicant selected for this position will be required to submit to a urinalysis drug screen for illegal drug use prior to the appointment.**

**An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment and will be barred from employment with the State of Ohio for 1 year.**
