Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Social Media Content Creator position for Extension & Engagement at Oregon State University (OSU).

Must be available for 8 hours per week during the summer 2024 term. Based in Corvallis or remote. May include travel with Extension 4-H professionals to camps at the Oregon 4-H Center, Summer Conference on OSU's Corvallis Campus, county fairs, Oregon State Fair, or similar. Travel expenses will be covered.

Position Duties

  • Work with the 4-H External Communications Coordinator to create a monthly social media plan for Oregon 4-H
  • Create one selfie/reels/portrait-style video project (no more than 3 minutes in length) each week
  • Create 1-2 horizontal videos for chosen attended events (testimonials, promotional B-roll, etc)
  • Create Instagram and Facebook posts supporting Extension 4-H events (in collaboration with team or solo using 4-H Social Media Best Practices)
  • Follow Instagram reels best practices for size and length of video content
  • Follow Extension 4-H guidelines for appropriate content
  • Attend weekly or bi-weekly check ins with ECC
Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications
  • Experience creating video content
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-###-#### et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Experience creating social media or video content for self or others
  • Experience as a 4-H participant, club member, or youth volunteer
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
  • Some travel will be required to the Oregon 4-H Center in Salem.
  • Travel costs will be covered.
  • Own transportation not required.
