Volunteer Trauma Support

Wayside will include a stipend amount of $1,200 to those who complete the 40-hour training and 1 year completion of volunteering.

This is an unpaid position to offer support to individuals who have been impacted by sexual assault. This position will need a person who has traits of high stress tolerance and ability to connect to a person in distress. Due of the nature and intensity of the training program, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills that support one's own ability to respond to crisis and work well under pressure including working well independently and as a team member.
  • Survivors of past violence must be emotionally ready to assist other survivors and be no less than a year past their own assault/abuse experience.
  • Applicants with a history of chemical dependency must be clean and sober for at least one year prior to training and must provide consent for a criminal background check (CORI).
  • Attendance is required for all training sessions prior to receiving certification and a one year volunteering commitment is preferred.
  • Applicants must be able to attend monthly volunteer supervision meetings to allow for required supervision and submission of monthly paperwork.
  • 18+ age requirement and 40-hour mandatory training on Trauma Intervention.
  • $1,200 stipend upon successful completion of 40-hour training and 1-year commitment to program.
